This blue parrot perches hidden in the branches. He has a perfect view of the bright day while feeling safe and secure. I painted him using layers of blue, purple, and green, plus shades of red, coral, and purple. The background is a vivid lime green washed with a blue glaze. Sometimes it’s really nice to be the observer. Stepping back out of sight can give you the chance to watch and enjoy the view. —Donald Ryker
