New Birds series

Working on a New Birds series. Photos for inspiration and sketches. I do the sketches with a charcoal pencil attached to my hard hat. I will use the B & W version of the photo to see the “values” or darks and lights in the image, then refer often to the color image for details. It doesn’t mean I will duplicate the colors. I go with whatever colors I am inspired to use. Often, when the image has as much color as some of these tropical birds I do end up staying true to nature.
