Bear Coming Out of the Forest

A massive bear emerges from the forest and looks downstream as he wades across the river. Mountain Forest. Teal, Purple, Golden brown. Large Painting by artist Donald Ryker in textured expressionist impressionist art style with unique impasto glaze technique.

I imagine this bear is not alone. Often bears fish the river together and train their cubs how to scoop up salmon and other fish. Is he checking to see who is in his territory? The base colors on the bear were in a rainbow range of color using the blues and purples for the the deeper shadows and yellows for the parts in the light. I glazed over with colors of cream and orange then enhanced the shadows further with more blue, green and purple. I like seeing the shape and form emerge using this unique impasto glaze technique I have developed. The forest background was inspired by a finger painter, Iris Scott, who is making her name with bright color and texture. – Donald Ryker
