Movement happens in natural elements as well as in animals. This wave is caught in the moment it is cresting, and curling toward the shore. There is internal color of gold and tan because of the influence of the sand pulled up into the wave, and the sparkle of light hitting the spray and the foamy surf. I painted in a subtly blue tinted white and created depth and sparkle with glazes in blue, red and yellow. —Donald Ryker
